WY Women First created and conceptualized through GE’s healtymagination division, was established in 2011 to provide funding for women to receive breast cancer screenings, through a partnership with Susan G. Komen, GE developed education and awareness on breast health, and provided full service of a custom, state of the art, mobile mammography unit to tour the rural roads of Wyoming – giving women access to screening when facilities were in some cases more than 100 miles away. This program came to fruition after GE’s research found that Wyoming was rated last in the nation for breast cancer screening.
Wyoming Inc. was contracted by General Electric in February 2012 to assist with Public Relations and Communication consulting services for an innovative concept aimed at increasing breast cancer screening rates across the state of Wyoming. Wyoming Inc. successfully assisted with identifying key influencers at the governmental, healthcare and non-profit levels to create a statewide partnership to assist with a more efficient and effective overall campaign. Wyoming Inc. was tasked with achieving statewide media coverage of all major events surrounding both the program’s objectives and the where-a-bouts of the GE Mammovan. Major media outlets who either attended and/or covered WY Women First Events: KTWO Television, Casper Star Tribune, Wyoming Business Report, Wyoming Public Radio, Wyoming Tribune Eagle
Wyoming Inc. also created an electronic monthly news brief to keep partners and interested program participants informed on all movements of the campaign on a monthly basis. Radio, print and internet advertising was placed by Wyoming Inc. to promote the GE Mammovan’s statewide visits across Wyoming. Wyoming Inc. also coordinated and strategized monthly special events in communities across the state to promote the Wyoming Women First Program.
